The Wakhan Valley
We travelled the length of the Wakhan Valley from Khorog, to its capital Ishkashim then through the small villages of Yamchun, Vrang, Zong and Langar. In Yamchun there are the beautiful ruins of a fortress and the refreshing Bibi Fatima hotsprings, Vrang is the home of the remains of Zoroastrian worshipping platforms and beautiful views of the valley, in Zong there are fortress ruins and great views (although our jeep didn't make it up to the ruins) and in Langar, thousands of petroglyphs (although they are covered in graffiti). From Langar we continued through country that is almost uninhabited (minus the military base at Khargush) before joining up with the Pamir Highway near Alichur.
