Darjeeling
Darjeeling is a former British hill station, reknowned of course for its tea (it is responsible for 1/4 of India's tea production), but also for its mountaineering (it is the former home of Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, first man to ascend to Everest's summit). The first language here is Nepali, and it is now home to thousands of Tibetan refugees. On a clear day, the mighty Kanchendzonga towers over the horizon.
