Pelling
Pelling, our first stop in Sikkim. It is home to two buddhist monasteries one, Pemayangtse being the oldest in Sikkim, the second, Sangngok Choling was more secluded, being reached only by a long trail uphill. The town itself is quite tourist, packed with jeeps, and lacks the atmosphere of other Sikkimese villages, but its views of the Khanchendzonga (3rd highest peak in the world) were quite spectacular. We arrived slightly early for the good weather and we toughed through damp, cold conditions peppered frequently with blackouts caused by the rain and wind.
