Xi'an
Xi'an is a town bursting with history and character. It is the former capital of 13 Chinese dynasties, but is most well-known as the home of the Terracotta Warriors, the subterranean army, guarding Emperor Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum, built in the 3rd Century BC, rediscovered in the 1970's. The "Muslim Quarter" in the centre of town is a great place for cumin infused lamb, delicious peanuty sweets and souvenir shopping madness right outside the peaceful mosque.

on November 20, 2007This photo is superb. The composition is outstanding. Converging lines of the cobblestone and train meet on the face. Bright/strong anchor in the top left. Handlebars of the tandem in foreground gives context to the shot. It's a beauty.
