Luoyang
Luoyang, in central Henan province, was the capital of China under five dynasties (Eastern Zhou 770-221BC, Eastern Han 25-220AD, Western Jin 265-317AD, Northern Wei 386-534AD and Later Tang 923-36). The construction of the amazing Longmen Buddhist Caves in began in the late Northern Wei Dynasty and continued for about 200 years. Other than the Longmen Caves, Luoyang is a good base for visiting the Shaolin Temple and Song Mountain.
