Xiahe

Xiahe is a town in Southwestern Gansu province (pre-1959 Tibetan Amdo province) home to the large Labrang Monastery. The Labrang Monastery is one of the six most important Geluk, Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and draws pilgrims and tourists from all over Tibet and China. It is home to nearly 1200 monks but at its peak it housed over 4000 monks.
